The Art of Imagery - Transforming Junk into Art
ECOLS will present an exhibition RE:ART:EX featuring collections “Ghost in the Machine” by Erika Simmons and “Adopt-A-Bot Orphanage” by Brian Marshall.
Erika Simmons is an imaginative painter and sculptor who is driven by an incredible passion for self expression through art. Her collection “Ghost in the Machine” focuses on the technique of recycling media like old cassettes and films to capture the elements of time in the imageries of celebrities’ portraits. The idea of introducing the element of time into artwork has echoes of the pieces of Blondie, Robert Smith and Robert Deniro. Erika’s another two new opuses, which are exclusively for this exhibition, are the portraits of Leslie Cheung and Maggie Cheung.
Brian Marshall's “Adopt-A-Bot Orphanage” is a collection of robot sculptures that were created entirely from recycled medium like old oil cans, aluminum measuring spoons and electrical meters etc. With added-on human nature, the assemblage explores possibilities and value of reducing, reusing and recycling in our World today.
